President Bola Tinubu has charged the newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, to prioritise judicial reforms, uphold the sanctity of the Constitution and foster unity within the legal profession as she assumes office.
The President gave the charge while congratulating Badejo-Okusanya on her historic election as the first elected female President and second woman to lead the Nigerian Bar Association.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu urged the new NBA President to work closely with all stakeholders to advance reforms in the judiciary, strengthen the rule of law and preserve the legal profession's role as a vital pillar of Nigeria's democratic system.
He also called on her to reach out to the other contestants in the NBA election, unite members of the association and address issues that arose during the electoral process.
The President expressed confidence that Badejo-Okusanya's leadership would improve access to justice for all Nigerians while further strengthening the legal profession through integrity, professionalism and commitment to constitutional democracy.
Describing her emergence as a triumph of merit, excellence and gender inclusion, Tinubu said her election reflects the growing recognition of the invaluable contributions of women to nation-building and the administration of justice.
He wished the President-elect a successful tenure and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to working with the Nigerian Bar Association to deepen democratic governance, promote justice and build a more prosperous and united Nigeria.
