The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in an operational update highlighting security interventions recorded across the country on September 11, 2026.
In Jigawa State, police operatives responding to an armed robbery incident in Hadejia engaged the suspects in a gun battle. One suspected armed robber was neutralised, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot injuries. Two Android phones, two power banks and a pair of shoes were recovered. The State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, is handling the investigation.
In Lagos State, tactical operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested the alleged leader of an armed robbery syndicate and four other members. The operation led to the recovery of three locally made pistols, five unexpended cartridges and 300 rounds of 9mm live ammunition. The SCID, Panti, is investigating the case.
The Ebonyi State Police Command also rescued Reverend Ede Sunday John Tobechukwu, who was abducted by armed men. Operatives mounted a sustained pursuit of the fleeing suspects, forcing them to abandon the victim, who was rescued unhurt. His Toyota Avalon vehicle was also recovered.
In Delta State, police operatives recovered a three-year-old girl who was allegedly stolen shortly after birth in 2023. The recovery followed a petition and sustained investigation, leading to the arrest of Mr and Mrs Solomon Igbiaye in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, six suspected armed robbers were arrested in Akwa Ibom State following intelligence-led operations conducted between September 5 and 9. Three suspects were initially intercepted, while three others were subsequently apprehended. Police recovered two locally made pistols, two live cartridges, three expended cartridges and six motorcycles suspected to have been stolen.
Also in Delta State, operatives arrested a suspected cultist and alleged criminal shrine operator believed to be involved in firearms dealings. Recovered from the suspect were a pump-action firearm, four dagger knives, a battle axe and substances suspected to be charms.
In Plateau State, three suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly terrorising Pankshin Local Government Area and neighbouring communities were arrested following intelligence-led operations. Police recovered a Browning pistol, 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a machete and assorted charms.
In the Federal Capital Territory, coordinated raids conducted by operatives from the Maitama, Wuse, Utako and Durumi divisions resulted in the arrest of 54 suspects at identified criminal hotspots and uncompleted buildings. Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit substances were also recovered.
The Zamfara State Police Command recorded another breakthrough with the arrest of five suspects at a suspected criminal hideout following credible intelligence. Recovered items included 70 bags of cement, seven bundles of 12mm iron rods and two empty drums, all suspected to be property belonging to the Ekiti State Airport.
In Anambra State, sustained investigation into the kidnapping of two persons and the theft of a Toyota Highlander led to the arrest of Victor Onwuka, also known as Bugatti. Police said the suspect confessed to involvement in the offences and subsequently provided information that led to the arrest of Madukaife Chidebere Kenechukwu, an alleged receiver of stolen phones linked to the syndicate.
The Force said investigations into the various cases are ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments and the CID in Abuja.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations and taking decisive action against criminal elements across the country.
