According to the Force’s state-by-state operational update for September 7, 2026, the operations were carried out between September 2 and 6 across Sokoto, Rivers, Niger, Kebbi, Abia, Anambra, Katsina and Kwara states.
SOKOTO STATE
Police operatives foiled an alleged planned bandit attack on Yadiya Village following credible intelligence about the impending assault.
Tactical teams from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and VCRU engaged the armed suspects in a gun battle. Four bandits were subsequently neutralised during a follow-up bush-combing operation.
The operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 28 rounds of live ammunition. No casualties were recorded among security personnel or residents.
RIVERS STATE
Police operatives rescued 41-year-old Kingsley Aleaga, who had reportedly spent four days in captivity after being abducted.
The victim was rescued unharmed during an operation at Ogale, Eleme Local Government Area, following intelligence on his whereabouts.
Three suspects were arrested during the operation, while quantities of suspected hard drugs were also recovered.
NIGER STATE
One suspected bandit was neutralised after police operatives engaged armed attackers who invaded Pelegi Community in Mashegu Local Government Area.
However, five persons were reportedly abducted during the attack.
The Police said efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims safely and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
KEBBI STATE
Police Mobile Force personnel on routine patrol came under heavy attack from suspected armed terrorists.
The ensuing gun battle reportedly lasted more than two hours, with several attackers neutralised while others fled with gunshot wounds and casualties.
Reinforcements were subsequently deployed, restoring normalcy to the area.
ABIA STATE
Four suspects were arrested over an alleged attempt to negotiate the sale of a one-year, four-month-old child.
Police operatives rescued the child during the operation and placed the victim in protective custody.
Five suspected major dealers in illicit drugs were arrested following an intelligence-led raid on a criminal hideout in Umuota Village, Obosi.
The operation by Rapid Response Squad personnel reportedly led to the recovery of large quantities of suspected cannabis sativa, methamphetamine, cocaine and Colorado, as well as other exhibits and ₦19,000 cash.
KATSINA STATE
Joint Police and local tactical teams successfully repelled an attack by heavily armed bandits across communities in Bakori Local Government Area.
The operatives engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to retreat and restoring normalcy to the affected communities.
KWARA STATE
Two suspects allegedly linked to kidnapping and banditry were arrested following an intelligence-led operation involving Police operatives and local vigilantes.
Items recovered from the suspects included ₦770,000 cash, two Infinix mobile phones, a locally made bulletproof vest and a power bank.
The Police said investigations into the various cases are being handled by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCIDs).
