The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across several states, arresting suspected terrorists, murder suspects, cultists, armed robbery suspects and railway vandals in coordinated operations carried out within the last 24 hours.
According to operational updates released by the Force, one of the major breakthroughs occurred in Imo State, where operatives of the Police’s VCRU dismantled a suspected terrorist hideout in Eziudo, Ezinihite Mbaise Local Government Area.
The operation led to the arrest of four armed suspects, while officers recovered three pump-action guns, 30 live cartridges, Biafra flags, military and police uniforms, recruitment forms, charms and photographs of purported leaders.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to ongoing recruitment activities and their involvement in multiple terrorist attacks across Imo State.
In another operation in the state, operatives arrested 23-year-old Opara Ikechi alongside four others at Bishop’s Court in Owerri over alleged cult-related activities.
Recovered from the suspects were locally fabricated pistols, live ammunition, a dagger and a suspected confraternity scarf. Police said four firearms and 31 rounds of ammunition were recovered, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri has commenced further investigation.
In Benue State, police arrested a woman identified as Nancy Sunday for allegedly killing her one-month-old stepdaughter by smashing the infant’s head while the child’s mother, Miracle Sunday, was away in Anambra State.
The crime scene was processed and the infant’s body was evacuated to the Teaching Hospital Morgue in Aliade for a post-mortem examination. The SCID in Makurdi is investigating the incident.
Similarly, police in Lagos State arrested Damilare Oladuni Orija for allegedly using a pair of scissors to inflict fatal injuries on a 19-year-old identified simply as Jide during an altercation at Agboyi 1 in Alapere-Ketu.
The deceased’s body was taken to a public morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the SCID in Panti has taken over the investigation.
In Ebonyi State, operatives arrested 22-year-old Ezekiel Francis Akam at his hideout in Oriuzor, Ezza North Local Government Area following credible intelligence from local vigilantes.
Police linked the suspect to an armed robbery case reported in December 2025, adding that he attempted to flee during the operation but was apprehended with suspected cartridge wounds on his left leg.
A search of his premises led to the recovery of a battle axe. He has since been taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA 2) for treatment, while the SCID in Abakaliki continues investigations.
In Akwa Ibom State, police arrested 33-year-old Divine Effiong Udo after responding to reports of gunshots in Ikot Obong Otor village.
During the operation, officers recovered a single-barrel gun and two expended cartridges. Police said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other suspected members of the gang.
Meanwhile, in the Federal Capital Territory, police recovered an abandoned ash-coloured Peugeot 406 with registration number GWA 124 GP from the basement of 21st Mall in Gwarinpa after the vehicle remained unclaimed for 15 days.
The vehicle has been taken into safe custody as authorities work to establish its ownership.
In a separate operation, police arrested Ikoh Precious, 26, and Fabian Agaar, 30, both residents of Angwan Rogo, for allegedly vandalising critical railway infrastructure.
According to the police, the suspects ignored repeated warnings from community members, forced an oncoming train to make an emergency stop and incited a crowd after allegedly carrying out the vandalism.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the FCT Police Command has commenced investigations into the case.
The Force said investigations into all the cases are ongoing as efforts continue to curb criminal activities across the country.
