The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major operational successes across several states, leading to the arrest of suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and drug dealers, as well as the rescue of kidnapped victims and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and stolen property.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, highlighting police operations carried out across the country in the last 24 hours.
In Adamawa State, police operatives, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Ba’a Usman Forest, Fufore Local Government Area, arresting two suspects identified as Muhammadu Ibrahim, 35, and Isah Jahogi, 25. A locally made pistol was recovered, while investigations linked the suspects to a kidnapping syndicate operating in Fufore and Jada LGAs.
In Akwa Ibom State, officers stormed a suspected criminal hideout in Ikot Ekpene, where three suspected drug dealers were arrested and large quantities of substances believed to be Indian hemp were recovered. Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
Police in Benue State also arrested Mohammed Bilyaminu, 19, over alleged cattle rustling. The suspect reportedly confessed to participating in cattle theft and the killing of one Benjamin Paul, while investigations continue to track down other members of the gang.
In Delta State, police recorded multiple breakthroughs. A robbery suspect, Jude Okonji, 30, was arrested and a stolen motorcycle recovered after officers prevented an attempted mob attack. Operatives also arrested Benjamin Omoniovo, 32, over allegations of abduction, rape and fraud after he was identified by five complainants. In a separate operation, suspected cultist Oghenebuba Mamatime, 28, was arrested with three locally made pistols and a single-barrel gun.
In Ebonyi State, police foiled an armed robbery operation after intercepting suspected criminals blocking the road at Umuebe Roundabout in Ngbo. One suspect, Sunday John Obi, 38, was arrested, while a pump-action gun and two live cartridges were recovered. His accomplice escaped, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
In Edo State, an intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of Nosa Ehimwenma, 25, who allegedly confessed to being a member of the Black Axe Confraternity. Police recovered a locally made pistol and two live cartridges and said investigations are ongoing to arrest other members of the group.
In Kogi State, joint security operatives foiled a kidnap attempt along the Kabba–Ayere Road. Following a bush-combing operation and the deployment of tear gas, the kidnappers abandoned six victims, who were rescued unharmed. Two vehicles were also recovered, while efforts continue to locate other passengers.
In Lagos State, police arrested suspected cultist Michael Abina, 31, during a targeted operation. Eight live cartridges and ten sachets of tramadol were recovered, while police intensified efforts to arrest his fleeing accomplices.
In Nasarawa State, police arrested suspected kidnapper Halilu Alh. Shehu following intelligence gathering. The victim reportedly identified him as one of those involved in the abduction, while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Ogun State, police rescued kidnapped victim Engr. Sola Boyeji during a bush-combing operation. Officers also recovered another victim’s vehicle, with rescue efforts and investigations still ongoing.
The Police Force said investigations into the various cases are continuing, while efforts remain focused on apprehending fleeing suspects and strengthening security across the affected states.
