The family of 26-year-old Chukwunyere Esther Chinaza has raised concerns over her disappearance after she reportedly returned to Nigeria from Dubai in June 2026.
Chinaza, an indigene of Imo State, was last seen on June 22, 2026, after reportedly arriving in Lagos with a male friend based in South Africa.
Her family said efforts to trace her have so far failed to establish her whereabouts or confirm whether she is alive or dead.
The Nigeria Police Force has declared Chinaza missing and issued a Special Police Gazette Bulletin in connection with an alleged conspiracy and murder case.
According to the police, Chinaza was reported missing around the Shoreline axis of Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The bulletin described her as a 26-year-old Igbo woman with a fair complexion and tall-to-average height. Her last known address was given as Horizon Estate, Ikate, Lagos State.
The police urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
One of Chinaza’s brothers said the family became increasingly worried after she disappeared, adding that their subsequent inquiries allegedly raised concerns about some individuals linked to the case.
“My sister’s name is Chukwunyere Esther Chinaza from Imo State. The guy lured my sister from Dubai to Lagos here on June 18. From June 21, she got missing up to now,” he said.
“We have not seen her or her body.”
He said the family later learnt that one of the individuals allegedly connected to the case had reported at the Panti Police Station.
The brother alleged that the man initially claimed he had been attacked by his friends but said the family remained dissatisfied with the explanations surrounding Chinaza’s disappearance.
He also appealed to the police to intensify the investigation, expressing concern over the lack of significant progress in locating Chinaza.
“We are not relying on those police people on their own investigation. It’s getting to too much. Nothing has been done. No arrest or nothing about those two guys,” he said.
He added that the family’s primary concern was to establish what happened to Chinaza.
“The only problem here is that I’m not seeing my sister. I’m not seeing her corpse or whether dead or alive. That is the problem,” he said.
Meanwhile, the police have declared Ajibola Obateru and Folawiyo Balogun Alagbado wanted over the alleged conspiracy and murder case.
The police alleged that Obateru conspired with others to attack Chinaza, remove her body and take her personal belongings. The alleged incident occurred around the Shoreline axis of Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Obateru was described as a 33-year-old Yoruba man, about 5.9 feet tall, thin, fair-skinned and with an oval face. His last known address was listed as Ajoda New Town, Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a separate bulletin, Alagbado was also declared wanted in connection with the case.
Police alleged that he conspired with others to attack Chinaza, allegedly killed her and moved her body to an unknown location. Her belongings were also allegedly taken.
Alagbado was described as a 32-year-old Yoruba man of average height with a dark complexion. His last known address was also listed as Ajoda New Town, Ibadan.
Another suspect, identified as Hakeem, is reportedly in police custody at the SCID, Panti, in connection with the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding Chinaza’s disappearance and the allegations against the suspects remain under investigation.
The police have urged anyone with information about Chinaza or the wanted suspects to contact the SCID, Panti, or the nearest police station.
The family continues to appeal for intensified efforts to locate Chinaza and determine what happened to her.
