The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspects and uncovered a suspected kidnapping network linked to multiple abductions across the state following a joint operation involving police personnel and forest guards.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.

According to the statement, the breakthrough followed the arrest of one Aliyu Isiaka at Okolowo, Ilorin, on October 24, by forest guards led by Jebrin Adam.

The suspect, who is from Ga’a-Kpapa Village in Moro Local Government Area, was intercepted wearing female clothing, including a hijab, and carrying a polythene bag containing assorted charms.

During interrogation, Isiaka confessed to being a member of a nine-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly led by a suspect identified as Juli, who resides in Fulani Camp, Ga’a-Kpapa, and is currently at large.

The police said Isiaka disclosed that he joined the group in August 2026 and participated in three kidnapping operations in Oloru, Alapa and Malete, where the gang collected ransom payments.

Following further investigations, a joint team of police officers and forest guards raided the suspected kidnappers’ camp on October 25, leading to the arrest of two additional suspects identified as Seriki and Jebrin.

The three suspects are currently in police custody for further investigation and are expected to be arraigned in court after the investigation is concluded.

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Ojo Adekimi, described the operation as a significant step towards dismantling kidnapping networks and improving security in vulnerable communities across the state.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations, enhanced collaboration with other security agencies and intensified efforts to apprehend criminal suspects.

The commissioner said the command’s operations were in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen security and protect lives and property across the country.
