Ibrahim’s appointment takes immediate effect and comes as the university observes a three-day mourning period in honour of Marafa, which began on Monday and ends on Wednesday.
Marafa was reportedly shot dead in Zamfara State. His death was announced on Sunday by the university’s Registrar, Oladipo Ajayi.
The appointment of Ibrahim was contained in a public notice issued by the Registrar and shared on the university’s official Facebook page on
Tuesday.
According to the notice, the decision was taken to ensure continuity and stability in the university’s financial administration during the period.
Ibrahim, who previously served as Deputy Bursar, Treasury, was described as a seasoned university administrator with extensive experience in NOUN’s financial operations.
She has worked across several key units of the Bursary Department, where she gained experience in accounting, financial management, treasury operations and other administrative functions.
The university said her previous role involved providing professional oversight and leadership of its treasury operations.
Management expressed confidence that her knowledge of NOUN’s financial systems and institutional procedures would enable her to maintain efficient, transparent and accountable financial services in her new capacity.
The university said Ibrahim is expected to carry out her responsibilities with professionalism, diligence, integrity and a strong commitment to the institution.
Her appointment was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uduma Oji Uduma, with the concurrence of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Isa Yuguda.
Meanwhile, NOUN described the late Marafa as a dedicated and dependable officer who served the university with commitment, professionalism and integrity.
The institution said his contributions to its financial administration and overall development would be remembered with gratitude.
