The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast varying weather conditions, including dust haze, thunderstorms and rainfall across different parts of the country from Friday through Sunday.

The agency made this known in its three-day weather outlook released in Abuja on Thursday, warning residents to prepare for changing atmospheric conditions.

According to NiMet, slight dust haze is expected across most parts of the North on Friday, while moderate haze will affect parts of Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi and Kaduna States.

It also predicted isolated thunderstorms with light rainfall over parts of Taraba State during the afternoon or evening.

For the North-Central region, the agency forecast sunny conditions with occasional cloud cover, while isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rains are expected over parts of Kogi, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory and Benue State later in the day.

NiMet said the southern region would experience cloudy skies in the morning, with chances of light rainfall over parts of Delta and Bayelsa States.

It added that thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall were expected over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Osun and Ekiti States, as well as other areas in the South-East and South-South regions, later on Friday.

For Saturday, the agency anticipated sunny and hazy weather across the North throughout the day.

The North-Central region is expected to experience sunny conditions with patches of clouds in the morning, while isolated thunderstorms with light rainfall may occur over parts of Kogi, Kwara and Benue States in the afternoon or evening.

Across the southern states, cloudy weather is expected in the morning, followed by thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall over most areas later in the day.

NiMet further predicted slight dust haze across most northern states on Sunday, while sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected to prevail over the North-Central region.

In the southern part of the country, cloudy conditions are expected during the morning hours, with thunderstorms and light rainfall forecast over parts of Imo, Abia and Anambra States.

The agency also anticipated light rainfall over parts of the South-West and South-South regions later in the day.

As part of its safety advisory, NiMet urged residents to take precautions against suspended dust particles, particularly individuals with asthma and other respiratory ailments.

It also warned that strong winds could occur before thunderstorms, advising members of the public to secure loose objects that could be displaced by the wind.

Residents were further advised to keep away from tall trees during storms to avoid injuries from falling branches or uprooted trees.

The agency also recommended disconnecting electrical appliances from power sources during thunderstorms to prevent damage and possible electrical hazards.

NiMet urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports and flight documentation from the agency to support safe and effective flight operations.

It advised members of the public to monitor regular weather updates through its official website.
