The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a major counterfeit alcoholic beverage operation at the BBA Trade Fair Complex along the Badagry Expressway in Ojo, Lagos State, leading to the seizure of products valued at more than ₦2 billion.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, by operatives of the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate following credible intelligence.

In a statement, NAFDAC disclosed that more than 20 illegal stores operating within makeshift parking facilities at Zamfara Plaza were discovered during the raid.

The agency said its operatives found suspects allegedly involved in blending and counterfeiting popular alcoholic beverage brands, repackaging expired or unsafe drinks for resale, and storing prohibited imported products.

Two suspects were arrested during the operation, while the affected products were seized and evacuated.

NAFDAC warned that counterfeit and improperly handled alcoholic beverages pose serious risks to public health, urging consumers to remain vigilant and avoid products suspected to be fake or unsafe.

The agency also called on members of the public to report suspicious manufacturing, product revalidation or sales activities through its official complaints line, 0800-1-NAFDAC (0800-1-623322).
