The clarification followed discussions between the two examination bodies over JAMB’s new system allowing candidates to upload and verify their O’Level results remotely.
Under the arrangement, candidates will complete the verification through the designated JAMB platform, after which the verified result will be made available to the institution processing their admission.
JAMB and WAEC said applicants would not be expected to pay another verification fee to their chosen universities, polytechnics or colleges.
The two bodies explained that the new system was introduced to eliminate repeated verification exercises and reduce the financial and logistical burden on candidates.
WAEC has also approved the sharing of verification outcomes by JAMB with relevant tertiary institutions for admission screening and other administrative purposes.
The development is expected to save candidates from making multiple trips to institutions or Computer-Based Test centres to authenticate the same academic results.
JAMB had earlier announced that the remote verification process would initially focus on WAEC results, allowing candidates to complete the exercise from home or any location with internet access.
Beyond convenience, the agencies said the collaboration would strengthen the authentication of candidates’ academic records and help reduce the presentation of fake or altered certificates during the admission process.
They urged prospective students to use only the approved verification platform and retain their verification details for subsequent admission procedures.
The policy comes as candidates prepare for the 2026/2027 admission exercise, with O’Level results remaining an important requirement for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Under the new arrangement, a candidate who successfully verifies a WASSCE result through JAMB will not be required to repeat the same verification or make another payment to the institution.
