The consignment was handed over at the Port of Ashdod by Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service, on behalf of the Israeli government.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel, Nkechi Ufochukwu, received the items and expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a significant boost to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
She said the equipment would help improve medical services and emergency response, particularly in underserved communities where access to healthcare remains limited.
The donation comprises fully equipped ambulances, modern medical devices and mobility aids, including wheelchairs.
The items are expected to be deployed to hospitals and emergency centres across Nigeria to enhance patient care and strengthen the country’s capacity to respond to emergencies and disasters.
Ufochukwu said the donation further demonstrated the growing relationship between Nigeria and Israel in healthcare, humanitarian support and technology.
“We deeply appreciate Israel’s commitment to saving lives and deepening bilateral ties. This donation is a clear demonstration of friendship and solidarity between our two nations,” she said.
Officials from Magen David Adom, the Israeli Ministry of Health and the Nigerian Embassy in Tel Aviv witnessed the handover.
The initiative is expected to support Nigeria’s efforts to expand access to healthcare and build a stronger and more responsive health system.
