Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has returned to the Ago-Iwoye Police Division in Ogun State, where he began his experience as a Divisional Police Officer several decades ago.
The IGP’s visit was announced on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, who posted footage of Disu’s tour of the division on X.
During the visit, Disu walked through parts of the station, including the office and living quarters he used during his early years in the Nigeria Police Force.
He also revisited a farm connected to his time at the division and reflected on the people and places that formed part of his early policing experience.
Speaking in the video, Disu said returning to the station was deeply emotional because it was where he first had the opportunity to lead a police division and develop his leadership skills.
“It’s a very emotional one. This is my first police station. This is where I learned to be a DPO.
“This is the first time I was able to test my leadership ability. I remember when I was posted here. I’ve never been a DPO before.
“It’s emotional being here. I’ve just gone around to see my room. I’ve entered the office and I’ve looked around.
“I’m going to go around the streets. I know there’s an old woman in front of the police station. She used to sell things.
“She rears goats. The goats always come into our station. I remember Baba Aladji.
“Aladji was very old. I always say this. For everybody, not only police officers.
“Where you work, do well. The question is, can you go back to where you worked before?” he said.
The visit served as a personal reflection for Disu, who rose through the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force from his early posting at Ago-Iwoye to eventually becoming Inspector-General of Police.
