The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday hosted the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede, and members of her delegation during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation included the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Chief Mrs Mutiat Disu; the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Safiya Shuaibu; the President of the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), Mrs Aisha Idi Abbas; the President of the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA), Mrs Ngozi Aneke; and the Coordinator of the Defence Intelligence Agency Wives Association, Mrs Jane Undiandeye.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to strengthen collaboration aimed at improving the welfare of security personnel and their families.
IGP Disu described DEPOWA as an important partner in supporting officers and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to expanding welfare programmes. He highlighted initiatives focused on economic empowerment, psychosocial support, healthcare and education as key to enhancing personnel well-being, boosting morale and improving operational effectiveness.
The Inspector-General also expressed appreciation to DEPOWA and other officers’ wives associations for their continued contributions to the welfare of personnel across Nigeria’s security agencies.
