This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, following Agboola’s visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The appointment was formalised on September 7, 2026, as part of activities marking International Youth Day 2026 under the National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative.
According to the statement, the recognition was based on Agboola’s achievements in technology entrepreneurship and his leadership in developing Flutterwave into one of Africa’s prominent fintech companies.
The Force said his contributions to innovation, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and responsible business made him suitable for the role, which is aimed at promoting positive youth leadership and responsible citizenship.
The initiative will focus on encouraging young Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurship, peacebuilding, cybersecurity awareness and constructive civic participation while discouraging cybercrime and other forms of social vices.
Disu said the appointment was part of efforts by the police to strengthen engagement with young Nigerians and position them as partners in creating safer communities.
He stressed the importance of providing youths with legitimate opportunities through education, innovation and entrepreneurship, noting that such pathways could help steer them away from criminal activities.
The Inspector-General also called for greater technological capacity among young police officers, particularly in emerging technologies and digital investigation techniques.
He said improving officers’ knowledge of digital tools and cyber-related investigative methods would strengthen the police response to cybercrime, digital evidence and other technology-driven offences.
Disu tasked Agboola with using his influence to inspire young Nigerians to pursue legitimate opportunities, uphold integrity, promote responsible innovation and contribute to national development.
Responding, Agboola thanked the Inspector-General for the confidence placed in him and pledged his support for the initiative, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and peaceful civic participation.

The Nigeria Police Force said it would continue to build strategic partnerships focused on youth development, technological innovation and cybersecurity, while promoting the active participation of young Nigerians in efforts to create safer communities.
