The Federal Government has approved a final extension for the submission of textbooks and other instructional materials for the 2026 Phase I Assessment, Reassessment and Ranking Exercise, moving the deadline to August 7, 2026.
The extension, announced by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), is intended to give publishers, authors and other eligible stakeholders more time to complete and submit their materials for the nationwide evaluation exercise.
In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of NERDC, Prof. Salisu Shehu, the council said the decision was approved by the Federal Ministry of Education to encourage broader participation in the assessment process and provide a final opportunity for eligible participants to meet the submission requirements.
NERDC advised all interested publishers and authors to ensure their submissions comply with the approved Textbook Quality Indicators and Submission Guidelines, noting that the guidelines remain unchanged and are available on the council’s official website.
The council, however, made it clear that the August 7 deadline is final, warning that no additional extension will be granted and that late submissions will not be accepted.
NERDC also commended publishers, authors and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation and urged them to submit their materials before the deadline to ensure a smooth assessment and ranking process.
The National Textbook Ranking System is one of the Federal Government’s key education reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to improve the quality of textbooks and instructional materials used in Nigeria’s basic and secondary schools.
