The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has uncovered the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s lifeless body beneath a bridge along the Kubwa Expressway, near Katampe, Abuja, following investigations that linked the incident to a hotel in Gwarimpa.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed this on Saturday, September 26, 2026, during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Abuja.
Sanusi said investigations established that the deceased had earlier been reported missing by his family before his body was discovered by the roadside on August 26, 2026.
According to him, police investigators identified the deceased through enquiries into the missing person report and subsequently launched a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Commissioner said the investigation took a new turn after detectives discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing, prompting efforts to trace the device and identify his last known contacts.
Although the phone had been switched off, investigators were able to establish the identity of the last person who communicated with the deceased, leading them to a woman identified as Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2, Abuja.
He said further enquiries revealed that the suspect, a married woman, was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his number on her phone under the name “Safiyat.”
Sanusi explained that the woman and the deceased had lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House, located on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where they spent time together before the man was found dead.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that she discovered the deceased was no longer breathing but allegedly took his mobile phone and left the hotel without reporting the incident to the police.
The Commissioner further disclosed that after the hotel management failed to establish contact with the occupants of the room, staff members eventually gained access and found the man’s lifeless body.
Rather than alerting the police, two members of the hotel management, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the premises and abandoned it beneath the bridge along the Kubwa Expressway near Katampe.
He said the investigation had uncovered the alleged actions of the suspects, adding that detectives were still working to establish the exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death.
The police commissioner assured the public that investigations would continue and that anyone found culpable in the death or the subsequent concealment and abandonment of the body would face prosecution.
