The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rearrested two suspected child traffickers and rescued a four-year-old girl allegedly abducted in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who said the suspects, identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John, were arrested on August 27, 2026, while allegedly attempting to escape with the abducted child, identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah.
Adeh said the suspects were apprehended after a concerned member of the community who witnessed the incident alerted the police.
She said police operatives responded swiftly, rescued the child and arrested both suspects.
According to her, preliminary investigations revealed that Daniel and John had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned before a court over a similar offence.
She added that the suspects were subsequently convicted and spent about five months in prison before being released on bail.
Further investigations, Adeh said, revealed that the suspects allegedly resumed their criminal activities after their release and have since abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country.
She disclosed that the most recent case involved two children who were allegedly taken to a suspected accomplice in Port Harcourt, identified as Madam Ijeoma, who reportedly purchased the children for N1.5 million each.
The four-year-old victim has since been reunited with her family, while the two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Adeh said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The FCT Police Command urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the safety and whereabouts of their children and wards.
