The farmer, identified in a video shared by Masara Kim, said he was working on his farm when he suddenly heard gunshots and was struck by a bullet.
According to him, the bullet entered one part of his body and exited through another, causing him to collapse.
He said that after regaining consciousness, he saw armed men around him and feared he would not survive the attack.
The farmer recalled that he had been focused on harvesting his groundnuts and was unaware that armed men were nearby.
He said the attackers appeared to argue over whether he had been shot before one of them confirmed that he was the person who fired the gun.
After the shooting, the farmer said he crawled on the ground in an attempt to move away from the attackers and reach a place where his cries could be heard.
Despite his injuries, he eventually managed to raise an alarm, attracting the attention of nearby residents who rescued him and handed him over to security personnel.
He was subsequently taken to a cottage hospital in Kuala, where he received medical treatment.
While recovering, however, the farmer said his family was hit by another distressing incident involving his brother. He explained that his brother left home on August 31, 2026, to visit him at the hospital but never arrived.
According to him, residents who witnessed what happened reported that suspected attackers opened fire on two people travelling along the road.
He said one of the travellers eventually made it home, while his brother has remained missing.
The farmer said the family has been unable to establish his brother’s whereabouts for about two weeks and has not received any ransom demand.
He further alleged that the latest incident was part of a pattern of attacks that had affected their community in previous years.
Recounting an earlier attack in June 2025, he alleged that armed men attacked the village, killing residents, burning houses and taking away livestock.
He also said the persistent insecurity had severely affected farming activities, with residents unable to complete planting and harvest crops already cultivated.
The farmer’s account underscores the impact of insecurity on rural communities whose livelihoods depend largely on agriculture.
For his family, the immediate concern remains finding his missing brother, whose whereabouts have remained unknown since he left home to visit him in hospital.
