The Big Brother Naija Season 11 house has recorded its first exits, with Martins Iyeh and 9Ijeoma “Mercedes” Emi leaving the competition during Sunday’s live eviction show.

The pair received the fewest votes in the first public voting round of the “Show Ya Sef” season, bringing their time in the reality show to an end.

Martins attracted 1.63 per cent of the votes, while Mercedes received 2.29 per cent. Keivo, who polled 2.92 per cent, secured enough support to remain in the competition.

Martins was evicted first, followed by Mercedes in the season’s opening double eviction.

The departures came two weeks after the show began on July 26, when 24 housemates moved into the house to compete for a ₦160 million prize package made up of ₦100 million in cash and an SUV.

Hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, this year’s edition is themed “Show Ya Sef” and carries the tagline, “Everything Is For The Taking.”

MARTINS’ STINT IN THE HOUSE

A 30-year-old from Kogi State, Martins joined the show as a visual storyteller, creative director and model.

He is also passionate about basketball and claimed mind-reading was among his hidden abilities.

Early in the competition, Martins said he was primarily interested in enjoying himself and told viewers they could vote him out if he failed to make an impact.

His birthday celebration became one of his most talked-about moments after his fellow housemates organised a celebration for him. Mercedes’ performance during the occasion also generated considerable attention online.

WHO IS MERCEDES?

Mercedes, whose real name is Ijeoma Emi, is 26 and hails from Delta State.

She works as a massage therapist, performance artist, concierge business owner and entrepreneur.

She entered the house promising to be confident, authentic and entertaining, while describing herself as someone who brings “boss energy.”

Mercedes quickly became involved in several social activities within the house and also attracted attention following a heated exchange with Oyin.

TWISTS AND TURNS BEFORE THE FIRST EVICTION

The opening week ended without anyone leaving after Biggie introduced “The Gambit”, which guaranteed two contestants a place in the house until the finale but excluded them from the grand prize.

Flora and Aikou were selected as the female and male Gambits respectively.

Chimsom Chuka won the first Head of House challenge, but another twist handed Tram control of the HOH lounge, with Sheba chosen as her companion.

In the second week, Sheba, also known as Faith Gamde, won the Head of House challenge, becoming the first female HOH of the season.

Biggie also introduced “Conspiracy Hour”, allowing selected housemates to meet privately and discuss strategies and possible alliances.

The nomination format was changed as well, with housemates asked to select three people they wanted to save instead of naming those they wanted evicted.

Tram, Barry, Cassi, Goddessa and Bells initially recorded some of the strongest save votes.

Sheba later exercised her authority by withdrawing Cassi’s safety and transferring the immunity to Chimsom Chuka.

With the Gambits already protected, several housemates remained exposed to the public vote, eventually leaving Martins and Mercedes among those at risk.

Their exit leaves the remaining contestants to continue competing for the ₦160 million prize as the “Show Ya Sef” season moves into its next phase.
