Suspected bandits have killed the Deputy Commander of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) in Zuntu, Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State, along with two other members of the vigilante group.

The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday night as the security personnel were operating in the Kubau area.

According to reports, the vigilante commander and two of his men were killed during the assault, sparking mourning among colleagues and residents in the community.

The incident was disclosed on Monday by Usman, an open-source intelligence (OSINT) monitor who tracks security developments in the region.

In a post, Usman said the KADVS deputy commander attached to Zuntu was among the three vigilantes killed by the attackers.

“The KADVS deputy commander in Zuntu town, Kubau axis, Kaduna State, has fallen. The vigilantes commander was killed by bandits along with two of his men last night,” he said.

He also offered prayers for the deceased, saying, “Allah ya jikansa da rahama,” meaning “May Allah have mercy on his soul.”

Kubau has recorded several security operations involving the KADVS and other security agencies in recent months.

In June 2026, KADVS personnel reportedly arrested suspected bandits along the Ikara-Zuntu route in the area.

The vigilante service had also, in a separate midnight operation, reportedly apprehended eight suspected armed bandits in Kubau following surveillance activities.
