Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the national leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has died at the age of 100.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announced his death in a statement personally signed and issued on Tuesday.
The governor described the late elder statesman as a respected leader whose life was defined by integrity, wisdom and dedicated service to Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.
Aiyedatiwa said Fasoranti’s contributions to national development, as well as his principled positions on justice and good governance, had left a lasting legacy.
He also noted that the late Afenifere leader provided valuable counsel and guidance, which would be greatly missed by the people he served.
The governor, on behalf of the Ondo State Government and its residents, extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the people of Akure Kingdom and the entire state over the loss.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul, describing his death as a significant loss to the state and the Yoruba people.
