Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter have reportedly regained their freedom after being abducted by suspected bandits in Kaduna State.
The development was announced by local security reporter Bakatsine in a social media post celebrating the family’s reported release. Other credible platforms have also reported the development.
“GOOD UPDATE: Alhamdulillah! Ahmed Zakka and his family have reportedly been freed from bandit captivity,” Bakatsine wrote.
The reporter expressed gratitude over the family’s reported freedom and prayed for their safety as they reunited with their loved ones. Bakatsine also called for the release of other Nigerians still being held by abductors across the country.
The family’s reported release comes days after they were abducted from their residence in Alrahus Estate, Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on October 6, 2026.
An earlier report by SaharaReporters stated that the kidnappers had demanded ₦300 million for the release of Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter.
During their captivity, a video circulated on social media showing Zakka carrying his crying baby while an armed man pointed a rifle at him. His wife was seated beside him as the family appealed for help.
The footage triggered widespread concern over the family’s safety, particularly that of the infant, who was seen crying while her father was being threatened at gunpoint.
The report also noted that Zakka’s right hand appeared swollen in the video. He reportedly attributed the condition to a tight rope used by the abductors to restrain his hands.
The incident attracted reactions from Nigerians and prominent public figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who joined calls for security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the family.
Although their reported release has brought relief to their loved ones and concerned Nigerians, details surrounding the circumstances of their freedom were not immediately available.
