A 25-year-old man, Moh’d Musa, has been killed after he was allegedly stabbed during a fight in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, August 22, 2026, with the Bauchi State Police Command confirming the arrest of a suspect in connection with the death.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to Habib, the police received a report of culpable homicide from the Bayan Bata area at about 11pm on August 22.
He said preliminary findings indicated that Musa was involved in an altercation with Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as ‘Dan Iya’.
The police spokesperson said the dispute escalated when Abdullahi allegedly produced a knife and stabbed Musa.
Musa was immediately taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for medical attention but was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
Following the incident, operatives of the ‘A’ Division Township responded swiftly, arrested the suspect and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack.
The victim’s remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Habib said the suspect remained in police custody as investigation continued, adding that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that justice is served.
The command also appealed to residents to avoid violence and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
