In a bid to avert the planned nationwide strike to begin on October 3, the Federal Government has summoned an emergency meeting with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and their Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, counterpart.
The meeting is scheduled to be held later this evening at the Aso Villa, Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
According to reports, the meeting which was earlier fixed for noon by the government was shifted to evening to enable Organised Labour to get across to their leaders outside Abuja.
The labour unions were said to have received the government’s invitation this morning through the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
