Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has reportedly withdrawn his interest in serving as a minister under President Bola Tinubu. He not only declined the ministerial role but also recommended Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, who served as a commissioner in three ministries in Kaduna State, as his replacement.
The decision to withdraw El-Rufai’s nomination came after the Senate chose not to confirm him, along with two other nominees, due to security checks.
Sources in the Presidency revealed that El-Rufai, a strong supporter of President Tinubu, declined the offer in order to focus on his doctorate program in the Netherlands. He assured Tinubu that he would continue contributing to national development as a private citizen.
As a result of El-Rufai’s withdrawal, Ibrahim Sani is expected to be proposed as the replacement, further reshaping the dynamics of the prospective ministerial team.
