In protest of the killing of three policemen and some members of the party at Anyigba, Kogi State, members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have stormed the police headquarters in Abuja.
The protest was led by the governorship candidate of the party, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka.
He was accompanied on the protest by prominent members of the party and their supporters.
Ajaka, during the protest, demanded that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha be removed and prosecuted. He alleged that CP Onuoha has been compromised in securing lives and property in the state.
According to reports, trouble started when some thugs allegedly operating in the guise of a state joint taskforce attacked the residence of the Campaign Director General of SDP, Sheikh Ibrahim, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Three policemen were killed during the incident, while six supporters of the SDP were abducted.
Ajaka and the Campaign Director General, Col. Suleiman Babanawa (retd), and a former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, were said to have held a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
