The police in Kogi have given more details about the viral video of a young boy, Friday Oshodi, who was “buried alive”.
Spokesman of the police command in the state, SP Williams Ayah who spoke during an interview on Channels TV, said the young boy was buried as a form of punishment for stealing.
SP Aya said one of the suspects, Victoria Bamidele, who is the stepmother of Friday, claimed that he had a history of stealing within the household.
According to the police image maker, Victoria also alleged that Friday ran away from home for about two months after he was caught stealing and when he returned, he stole again.
As a result of that, SP Ayah said Victoria then asked her son, Goodness Oshodi to discipline Friday.
He said following the instruction from Victoria, Goodness beat up Friday and took him to a secluded area where he buried him alive.
Aya said, “She said that the younger brother by the name Friday Oshodi used to steal at home. She said the last time he stole, he ran away from the house for about two months and when he returned, he stole again. The stepmother of the victim, directed Goodness Oshodi, the elder brother to punish Friday. After Goodness beat up his younger brother, Friday, he took him to a nearby bush where he dug a hole and then buried his younger brother alive”.
