Twenty-four (24) suspects have been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for offences bordering on drug abuse and other social vices.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the command on Friday.
The statement said the apprehension of the suspects was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, regarding the promotion of community-based policing and increased round-the-clock visibility patrols.
According to the statement, the officers made the arrests as part of the Command’s efforts to reduce crimes and criminality, especially the menace of drug abuse and other social vices in all parts of Kano State.
The suspects, the statement said, were nabbed by operatives while carrying out several clearance operations between October 26, 2023, and November 2, 2023.
The statement said after the arrests, operatives recovered a quantity of illicit drugs and stolen properties.
It also noted that the drug dealers will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command for further action.
The remaining suspects, the statement added, will be charged in court upon the completion of the investigation.
