The Nigeria Police Force has raised an alarm about the existence of unauthorized Facebook and WhatsApp accounts claiming to represent the Police Service Commission (PSC).
In a statement issued by the Force Spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Wednesday, the force disclosed that the unauthorized accounts are operated by an individual named Mr. Stephen Prosper.
ACP Adejobi, who said the police are actively taking steps to apprehend the suspect, called on the public to be cautious of the accounts.
According to him, the warning is imperative to prevent Nigerians from falling victim to Job racketeering and frauds related to police recruitment and other job opportunities in the NPF.
“Please be careful,” the statement warned.
The statement also warned, “Kindly verify the authenticity of any communication from official sources and report suspicious activity to the Police via our social media platforms or via email at pressforabuja@police.gov.ng, and PSC’s official handles on social media. Your safety is our priority.”
This comes a few days after the force raised an alarm about the existence of numerous fraudulent Facebook accounts using the name and image of Senior Police Officers, including that of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Frank Mba, mni.
