The Adamawa State Police Command has killed one suspected kidnapper during a gun dual at the Gurin district in Fufore Local Government Area of the state.
Police operatives also rescued two kidnapped victims of the hoodlums.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje on Monday.
Nguroje said the police action on Sunday, October 1 was further to the command’s renewed commitment to enhance proactive strategies, and disconnect a criminal network connecting part of Gurin, Muninga, Wuro Kesum, Parda, Boggel Districts of Gurin in Fufore local Government Areas.
“The operation, which was carried out by the Command’s operatives attached to Gurin Division in joint operation with hunters yielded the Successes recorded,” the statement reads.
“The outcome of these successes follow-up on Collaborative Community Policing/ Rescue Operations strategy adopted by the command to checkmate cases bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, unlawful possession of firearms, amongst others, where three children of Alhaji Maikano Adamu were kidnapped.
“The suspected kidnappers upon sighting our men engaged them in a gun duel as a result one (1) of them was neutralized, others escaped with bullet wounds.
“Interestingly two of the victims Muhammed Maikano and Abubakar Maikano were rescued. One AK-47 rifle, 25 rounds amongst others were recovered.”
“The Commissioner of police CP Afolabi Babatola, while expressing happiness, praised DPO Gurin, his men and hunters for the gallantry performance displayed, directs them to give hot chase to those on the run and bring them to book.
“The CP calls on the populace to always inform the police of the whereabouts of criminals and their hideouts, especially those on the run with bullet wounds if seen.
“The police boss equally assured the Government and good people of Adamawa state, of the command’s continuous effort to dislodging all criminal hideouts and blackspots in Adamawa state.”
