JAMB Invalidates Result of Anambra Candidate for Falsifying Information
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced on Tuesday that it has invalidated the result presented by Mmesoma Ejikeme, a candidate from Anambra, for the 2021 examination. JAMB also confirmed that the UTME result displayed by “Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma” is fake.
According to the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who stated on Tuesday morning, Mmesoma was the only candidate who presented an outdated notification slip from the 2023 UTME. JAMB assured the Nigerian public that its system had not been tampered with or compromised, as Mmesoma had simply falsified a copy of another candidate’s result slip. The candidate in question, named “Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle,” sat for the UTME in 2021 and scored 138.
Interestingly, Mmesoma inadvertently revealed the true owner of the result she was parading when she mentioned that the QR code on the result slip belonged to someone else. To verify the Board’s claims, the public is encouraged to scan the QR code on the result slip to confirm the genuine owner before it was manipulated. The QR code contains the UTME result of each candidate, so the information on the result sheet is based solely on this QR code.
Furthermore, JAMB clarified that it ceased issuing Notification of Result slips after the 2021 UTME due to rampant falsification by candidates. Instead, the Board began providing actual UTME RESULT Slips in 2022, which include the candidate’s photograph.
Considering Mmesoma’s serious violation, JAMB’s management has taken appropriate action by invalidating her 2023 UTME result and barring her from taking any examinations conducted by the Board for the next three years.
