The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has declared he is still a Senator despite his new designation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Umahi stated this on Thursday when he appeared live on Channels TV Sunrise Daily.
While discussing his plan for infrastructures and how he must be given at least the size of his budget, the host asked him if he would need to work with the National Assembly,
He responded by saying he is still a Senator but not a sitting Senator because he has exited the National Assembly.
According to him, the moment he took the oath of office as a Minister, by law, he resigned from the other office, but the position still belongs to APC until the tribunal says otherwise.
The Ebonyi State National and State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, reserved judgment in the petition filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Michael Nnachi, and Labour Party (LP) candidate, Linus Okorie, who are challenging the declaration of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dave Umahi, as the winner of the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat.
