The acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, on Thursday decorated the newly-promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police.

This move followed the compulsory retirement of four Deputy Inspectors General of Police by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The newly decorated Officers are DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje, DIG Daniel Sokari – Pedro, DIG Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, and DIG Usman Nagogo.

According to the Ag. IGP, the retirement and appointment are in line with the Police tradition and the Officers were carefully selected based on seniority from geopolitical zones and that of the staff list.

He further charged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear as they join the Force Management Team. He also expressed his gratitude to the retired DIGs for their service, contributions, support, and commitment to delivering on their mandate as DIGs.

Responding, DIG Usman Nagogo assured the IGP that they would “not disappoint him” or “do anything that will negate his vision and mission.”

In the same vein, the Inspector-General of Police also approved the upscaling of the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) to a Department in the Nigeria Police Force to consolidate current strides in the advancement of police efforts to strengthen and enhance the NPF intelligence capabilities for an improved internal security mechanism with a view to bolstering the ability to combat modern-day challenges effectively.

As part of the transformative move, the IGP has approved the appointment of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Habu Sani, a seasoned and highly experienced officer, as the new Head of the Force Intelligence Department (FID).

He also approved the appointment of Assistant Commissioners of Police to head Zonal Intelligence Departments (ZIDs) and State Intelligence Departments (SIDs) nationwide.
