In a shocking disclosure, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has uncovered the sum of N27 billion as part of its ongoing crackdown on financial misdeeds.
The immediate past acting chairman of the EFCC, Abdulkarim Chukkol made this known during a recent media briefing in Lagos.
The briefing also outlined the “remarkable progress” in the agency’s relentless pursuit of accountability.
A breakdown of the sum showed that N12.7 billion is said to be linked directly to an individual.
The revelation by Chukkol is reported to have sent shockwaves through the nation.
Although the EFCC’s investigations have not been confined to individuals alone, some ex-governors, ministers, and government officials are under the radar of the anti-graft agency across the country.
