The two wives of the Chairman of Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State have been kidnapped by gunmen who attacked the residence of the council chairman.
This was disclosed to BBC Hausa by the Chairman, Honorable Nasiru Ahmed Kiyawa.
He said the gunmen stormed his house after Isha’i prayer on Friday night, chasing away people outside before entering.
“They fired twice at my door before entering,” the chairman said. “From there, they took my two wives, they are still holding them hostage,” he added.
The incident has been confirmed by the Spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam Shiisu.
Shiisu said the command received an emergency call and immediately sent officers to the scene of the crime.
He, however, said before the arrival of the police, the gunmen had already abducted the chairman’s wives.
The police spokesman said the police force has already dispatched officers to all corners of the local government to rescue the women.
