A first-class traditional ruler in Nasarawa State, the Emir of Gurku, Jibrin Mohammed, and his wife, have been abducted.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Emir and his wife were whisked away from his palace, which is located a few kilometers from Mararraba main town of Karu Local Government Area on Sunday night.
On receiving a distress call, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Maiyaki, deployed a combined team of Police operatives in collaboration with the vigilante group to comb the surrounding bushes.
DSP Nansel added that efforts are ongoing to rescue the Emir and his wife unhurt as an additional combined team of detectives, anti-kidnapping unit and tactical men of the Command have been deployed to ensure their prompt rescue.
