The former US Navy SEAL, who claimed to have fired the shot that killed al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden in 2011, has been arrested in Frisco, Texas, United States.
47-year-old Robert J. O’Neil was booked into jail in Collin County on Wednesday and released on $3,500 bond on the same day.
He was arrested for public intoxication and assault while visiting from Tennessee to record a podcast at a local cigar lounge.
Frisco Police didn’t release more information about the arrest.
The Police said he faced a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury and a Class C misdemeanor charge of public intoxication, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The case is not his first run-in with the law since he gained public recognition. He was banned by Delta Airlines in 2020 for refusing to wear a mask.
In 2016 he was arrested for driving drunk in Montana, but prosecutors later dropped the charges.
He recounted how he killed Osama bin Laden in his 2017 memoir “The Operator.” US government has never confirmed or denied the story.
