The International wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State was on Wednesday, gutted by fire.
The fire incident, it was gathered, occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, and was caused by a faulty cable on the tarmac.
The incident was confirmed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
In a statement, FAAN said that passengers and airport officials were successfully evacuated.
“All passengers and staff were asked to evacuate the building while the Lagos State Fire service was on hand to complement that of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN),” FAAN noted.
