A lady, identified as Bunmi Samuel, who uses the SIM cards gotten from stolen phones to make withdrawals from the bank accounts linked to the sim, has been arrested.
She was arrested on Friday, September 1, 2023, alongside her boyfriend, Nuhu Zaria, who snatches phones from innocent victims and hands them over to her.
Parading the suspects at the Command Headquarters on Thursday, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, said that Police operatives have so far recovered 76 SIM cards, two Opay ATM cards and a golden wristwatch from the suspects.
He added that the suspects are to be arraigned in Court after investigation.
Speaking to journalists, Bunmi said, “I withdraw people’s money with their sim card. We have a general code we use to get the list of banks registered to that sim. We buy recharge cards from the sim, open a mobile wallet and transfer. It would be a year now that I started the job and I have made like N150,000.”
The CP also paraded a notorious bandits informant and logistic supplier, identified as Mohammed Hamza. He was arrested by operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the Command in Kabin Mongoro Forest while he was on his way to bandits camp bordering Nasarawa State.
The suspect confessed to being an informant, a drug and food supplier to one Dogo, surname unknown, who is a notorious kidnapping kingpin on the Command wanted list.
In the same vein, the Police operatives attached to the Byazhin Division, working in close collaboration with the vigilante arrested five suspected kidnappers on August 8, 2023.

They allegedly kidnapped a five-year-old boy, Umar Iliya, and held him hostage in the residence of one of the suspects, Helen Sylvester, at Giko village for three days. The victim has since been reunited with his parents.
