The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought Oladipo Jimoh, along with his company, Barma Energy Resources Limited, before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. They faced two-count charges related to the alleged misappropriation of $60,334.59.
Jimoh pleaded not guilty on the charges, prompting the prosecution counsel, G.C. Akaogu, to request a trial date for the prosecution to present its case.
Justice Dada granted bail to the defendant, setting it at N200 million, with two sureties required to match the bail amount. The sureties were mandated to be gainfully employed and possess either N100 million in their accounts or a valued landed property.
The judge ordered the defendant’s remand at the Correctional Centre until bail conditions are met. However, due to the absence of Correctional officers in court on that day for security reasons, Justice Dada directed that the defendant be temporarily remanded in EFCC custody.
The trial was scheduled to commence on February 12, 2024, marking the next chapter in the legal proceedings against Oladipo Jimoh and Barma Energy Resources Limited.
