A video has shown the reported deployment of military along its border with the neighboring country, Benin, by Niger’s coupists.
This is in anticipation of an imminent military intervention by the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS in the restive West African nation.
This was disclosed by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, and posted on his X handle on Monday.
Recall that the 15-member ECOWAS had threatened a possible military action against the junta that seized power in Niger on July 26th and afterward, suspended the constitution.
ECOWAS had last month, ordered its standby force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger.
But, ECOWAS army is yet to invade the insurgency-torn country.
The video posted by Zagazola was accompanied by a caption that reads, “Niger deploys Military to the Niger- Beninese Border amidst eminent Military intervention plans of ECOWAS”.
The video showed the movement of military vehicles in a convoy as they were hailed by people.
