The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of Financial System Stability, Aisha Ahmad.
The DSS, according to reports on some news websites, arrested Ahmad over her alleged involvement in the acquisition of shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank/Union Bank.
The reports say the apex bank deputy governor is being interrogated on how $300 million meant to complete the acquisition of Union Bank was raised by Titan Bank.
There has not been any official reaction from the secret police and the CBN on the reports and details around the arrest are still sketchy.
Three calls to the Spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunanya by our correspondent, were not successful as his line was unreachable at the time of this report.
The reported arrest of Ahmad comes about two months after the DSS picked her ex-boss at the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele. Emefiele is currently in DSS custody.
The ex-CBN governor who was suspended by President Bola Tinubu was charged with possession of a firearm but was later charged with N6.9 billion fraud.
