After conducting an assessment of the community, the deputy governor has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to promptly withdraw the officers dispatched to Opu-Nembe for a sting operation last weekend.
The deputy governor highlighted ongoing human rights violations in Opu-Nembe and emphasized that the presence of security personnel has instilled fear in what was once a tranquil community.
Ewhrudjakpo, who took action to evacuate a woman reportedly subjected to police mistreatment, assured the Opu-Nembe residents that the Bayelsa State Government is committed to maintaining law and order.
Additionally, he urged the police to demonstrate professionalism in their operations, recognizing the significance of upholding citizens’ rights while enforcing the law.
