The Rivers State House of Assembly has gotten a new speaker. He is Ehi Edison.
Upon his emergence as the new speaker, Edison dissolved all the local government chairmen of the state.
The emergence of Edison as the speaker comes after the House earlier sacked the former Speaker, Martin Amaewhule..
Edison who, until his new position, was removed as the Majority Leader of the assembly, is believed to be a loyalist of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.
The house, under the leadership of the former Speaker had earlier began an impeachment process against Fubara
The governor, had hours ago, cried out that he had done nothing wrong to warrant the Rivers State House of Assembly to move for his impeachment.
The governor is having a face off with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, a situation, which led to the move by the lawmakers to start an impeachment process on him.
