The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, granted bail to the suspended CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, in the sum of N20 million with one surety in like sum.
He was granted bail after pleading not guilty to the two counts bordering on the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
In his ruling, Justice Nicholas Oweibo held that the charges against the defendant were bailable.
It would be recalled that Emefiele was arrested by DSS on June 10, 2023, for ‘some investigative reasons’, following his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.
After weeks of being detained, an Abuja High Court on July 13, 2023, issued DSS a one-week ultimatum to charge Emefiele to Court or release him.
