Court Grants Abba Kyari Bail
The Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, bail.
One of his counsel, Barr Suleiman Shehu, who announced this development in a statement on Thursday, said the presiding Judge, Justice James Omotosho, held that since Abba Kyari and his team refused to escape when Kuje Prison was attacked on July 5, 2022, it showed that he is not a flight risk.
The Judge also stated that Kyari was ready to face the allegations against him.
However, his lawyer maintained that Kyari still has a criminal case before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Kyari, who is a former head of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, is being prosecuted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) alongside four suspended Police Officers, ACP Sunday J. Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirgba and Inspector John Nuhu.
They were arraigned on charges bordering on unlawful dealing in cocaine and attempting to tamper with evidence.
