Nigeria’s inflation has climbed to 28.20 per cent in November as against 27.33 per cent in October. This reflects the worsening cost of living crisis in the country. This was contained in a new ‘Consumer Price Index: November 2023’ released on Friday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In the index, it revealed that headline inflation surged by 0.87 percentage points in November to a new record high in almost two decades. The police in Delta State has banned the sale and the use of fireworks, knockouts, firecrackers and other pyrotechnics in Delta State. The ban was emplaced by the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Wale Abass, while warning that it poses a threat to state security and should be avoided. This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Spokesman of the police command, DSP Bright Edafe. A former Anambra Governor, Chukwuemeka Ezeife has died. Ezeife passed on on Thursday at the age of 85. The deceased was an Igbo leader and elder statesman. The Supreme Court has nullified the ruling by the Appeal Court asking the Federal Government to set free the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from prison. The court, in a unanimous judgement by a five-member panel of Justices, although, said the Federal Government acted “irresponsibly” when it brought back Kanu back into the country from Kenya against all known laws. The Federal Government has no hand in the political crisis in Rivers State, Information and National Orientation, Minister, Idris Malagi said on Thursday. Malagi made the dismissal when he appeared on Channels TV’s programme, Sunrise Daily. Nigerian singer, Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley has dragged actress, Iyabo Ojo before a court for defamation. Marley alleged that the actress disseminated false and defamatory content on her Instagram handle. The singer, in a letter sent to Ojo through his lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, outlined the accusations made in a September 2023 post, stating that the actress accused him of engaging in spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
