The election of Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkwon has been nullified by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
Mwadkwon represents Plateau North- Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
The three-panel led by Justice Daudu Williams, in a unanimous judgement, held that the PDP did not validly nominate Mwadkwon.
According to the panel, the courts were not fully complied with by the PDP as 12 local government areas did not participate in the congress.
A rerun was ordered by the court for the Senatorial District seat to be conducted in 90 days.
Non-compliance with a subsisting court order from the Plateau State High Court made since 2020 for the PDP to conduct Congress before nominations were cited by the court as key factor behind their decision.
Also, the victory of PDP’s Musa Avia representing Bassa North in the House of Representatives was also nullified by the panel at the appellate court.
