The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Kogi State has issued a statement calling on security agencies to uphold fairness and professionalism in their duties leading up to the November 11 election. The council expressed its concerns regarding recent raids on the residences of its party leaders in Kogi East, raising worries that they might be specifically targeted.
In the press statement released, the council emphasized the importance of a peaceful electoral process and urged security agencies to act professionally, fairly, and patriotically to maintain law and order before, during, and after the election. The council underscored that the election was a crucial moment for the electorate to decide the state’s future leadership and should not be marred by insecurity or biased actions.
“We welcome every effort aimed at ensuring a peaceful poll on November 11, 2023. The election is an opportunity for the electorate to determine who leads the state from January 27, 2024, and therefore, it shouldn’t be a reason for insecurity in the state,” the statement read.
The council’s spokesperson, Kingsley Fanwo, reiterated the call for security agencies to conduct their operations with fairness, ensuring that all parties involved are treated impartially and justly. The statement underscores the need for a democratic and transparent election process, where the will of the people can be expressed without fear or intimidation.
